Part 2 of my Photoshop diatribe. Today I will show you some pictures of real punk color and what you can expect. One thing you might notice that is different between the two is the amount of light that reflects from them. In my previous post you will notice that the colors are very multidimensional with what appears to be highlights and lowlights. What you are really seeing is the highlights and lowlights of their real hair color and when it was photoshopped the one color they laid over the top of the image shows the underneath color. It can be sort of confusing and I apologize so I will move on.
The real colors you will see are a more flat look and do not refract as much light. To get hair this vibrant, have the staying power you desire and the best all over look you have to prelighten it, also known as bleaching the hair first. Bleach is an awesome thing but it can be pretty touchy too. You can easily give yourself a chemical hair cut if you don't know what you are doing. Yes. It will literally melt or break off because of it being over processed.
So here we go, on with what you really want to see...the bright pretty colors!
"Hey this is multidimensional and you said they don't look like that!" They would have used 3-4 different colors to achieve this and boy did they because this is awesome! Now there is always a chance I am missing the clues and this could be photoshopped because some people are that good but this looks pretty real to this girl.
P.S. This is not my work, I found it on Pinterest.
This is what real lavender hair looks like. If you notice in some places it almost borders on grey but on other places a lilac color. The reason for the variances is that punk colors take differently in the hair depending on the porosity of it. If you also notice she has roots because to get this light of a color with the saturation she has it needs to be prelightened. So this type of color is almost always a two step process.
Beautiful hot pink! How come it is so vibrant!? Because she probably just did it and to stay that way she probably didn't wash it as often as some people shampoo. The great thing about all over punk color is that since your hair has been through a bit more to get it there it is usually drier and therefore can go longer without shampooing it.
P.P.S I also found this one on Pinterest but if you click on the picture it will take you to the site. Not my work but it is pretty great!
You might be wondering well how the hell do I know when I am being duped or not!? Stay tuned until my next post and I will show you some of the tell tale signs I look for when playing my favorite game show. "Photoshopped or Not!". I also enjoy "Wig or Not" but that is for another post.
Have a great evening!
what's this for?
I find so many things I love out on The Internet and I want a place to share it. Trends, tips, and hopefully some fun stuff too!
