This is one of those myths I hear all the time that scientifically cannot be true. Your hair grows from the root out and technically is not alive after it leaves the follicle.
It is important to trim it because it stops the ends from splitting. When the ends split they break off causing the hair to shorten and look frayed. When you have a nice clean line on the end it actually makes it look longer thus appearing that it grows faster.
"Ok but why am I spending the money on quality product to wash, condition and protect it then???" So as an example imagine you bought a new car, as soon as that car drives off the lot it will never be as fresh and new. That doesn't mean you don't wash it, clean the carpets and spend money on good wax to keep it gleaming? So in essence, hair like a car depreciates as soon as you drive it out the follicle. ;) You can preserve it and keep it shiny by choosing good products and getting a trim on a regular basis. 4-5 weeks for a short cut and 6-12 weeks for a long cut.
"I always tell the stylist I just want an inch and they take like 5!" I hear this all the time which is why I always show my clients what an inch actually looks like, make sure you are on the same page with your stylist!
If you are looking for a new stylist and want to get on a regime to keep yourself looking your best I would be honored to be that stylist. You can book me 24/7 right here on the site by clicking "schedule now" above.
Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts and hope all is well!
